I just got back from Indonesia today and am reminded of a amusing incident.
I used to have to visit Indonesia every weekend to visit our missionaries and help start up a new work. After several months, my passport was filled with an entry stamp for every preceding Saturday and an exit stamp for every Sunday. So the immigration officer got suspicious and asked me why I was coming to Indonesia so often – probably suspecting that I was illegally doing some weekend business without a work-permit.
Knowing that this island was a haven for Singaporean men to keep Indonesian girl-friends and mistresses, I replied “I’ve a good friend here!” He looked at me with that look in his eye that suggested that he knew that I was up to no good and then dutifully stamped my passport!
Yes, it was true that I had a good friend there but it was not a girl-friend or a mistress. Indeed, I had a good Christian friend. In fact, I had many good Christian friends. I had told him the absolute truth but I did not tell him that it was a Christian missionary friend in my church that I was referring to. He didn’t ask me to clarify who my friend was, so I didn’t.

Our workers and missionaries serving in the campuses of Central Philippines have been busy week after week, visiting schools, proclaiming the Good News to masses of students as well as in room to room preaching and personal witnessing.
Here are the latest updates from our faithful workers on the island of Bohol:
Last week, our team went to the northwest and interior part of Bohol, and approximately 1932 professed… Read More....
Positioning to live within a community – Tim is a tentmaker. For prudent reasons, we cannot divulge his real name or citizenship. He did not go to another country but had to make a cross cultural leap within his own country.
Tim has had a growing burden for the majority people group in his country. In this country, it is against the law for this mainstream people group to… Read More....
A few weeks ago, a co-worker of mine who is married to a Korean Christian worker told me something interesting. She said “Korean missionaries unite around the Gospel but we bring our differences to the mission field and fight over them!”
Koreans are basically a strong militant race. They do not shun a fight. The Korean Christian population is also clearly divided into conservative Presbyterians and exuberant Charismatics. In… Read More.... | 1 Comment

Psalm 64
For the director of music. A psalm of David.
1 Hear me, O God, as I voice my complaint;
protect my life from the threat of the enemy.
2 Hide me from the conspiracy of the wicked,
from that noisy crowd of evildoers.
3 They sharpen their tongues like swords
and aim their words like deadly arrows.
4 They shoot from ambush at the innocent man;
they shoot at him suddenly, without fear.
5 They encourage each other in evil plans,
they talk about hiding their snares;
they say, “Who will see them [a] ?”
6 They plot injustice and say,
“We have devised a perfect plan!”
Surely the mind and heart of man are cunning.
7 But God will shoot them with arrows;
suddenly they will be struck down.
8 He will turn their own tongues against them
and bring them to ruin;
all who see them will shake their heads in scorn.
9 All mankind will fear;
they will proclaim the works of God
and ponder what he has done.
10 Let the righteous rejoice in the LORD
and take refuge in him;
let all the upright in heart praise him!
PTL! Whew! Pastor, that’s what you really call “wisdom”
Indeed it is not by might nor by power but by His Spirit… Praise the Lord for grace and wisdom given!
great wisdom & humor
This is funny, thank God for the lessons learnt!
Yes, our God is a great God. He puts the right appropriate words to our mouth to answer any person that will question our existence in the field. PTL
