Another reason people do not obey God’s call and His command for world-wide missions is the excuse of being successful. The excuse goes like this; “But I am successful were I am, my ministry is blessed or my business is booming.” But what people fail to realize is that missions is not just for people who cannot succeed in any thing else. God like any good employer is not looking for the frustrated, the failure or the unemployable.
But God is looking for those who have proven themselves. He often sends the best and the brightest of men. God calls men like Barnabas to missions. Remember he was a cultured Christian, a Levite who owned an estate on the Island of Cyprus. In this day anyone who owned land on Cyprus was rich and influential. Yet God called him and sent him on that first missionary journey.
He calls men with great minds like William Carey, Adronium Judson and Robert Morrison who are able to translate the Bible from one language to another. He calls wealthy men like Borden of Yale, although born with a silver spoon in his mouth and all the advantages of life-he left it all to serve God as a missionary. But he also calls converted criminals like Saul of Tarsus.
The fact is a persons present success whether it be in ministry or business is no guarantee that they are in the center of God’s will. Remember Moses was pre-eminently blessed when he struck the rock but he was completely out of the will of God.
If God has called you to the mission field do not use the excuse, “But I am successful, my ministry, my business is booming” because that is no guarantee that you are doing what God wants you to do!

School has begun! I started teaching on Monday of this week. I am teaching in the English department of my school and am very excited to be working with my students. I have loved all my students from year one to now but because these kids are English majors their English is a little better so we can discuss more in-depth topics and get to know each other a little… Read More....
Over the last week I was privileged to take a couple trips to other places of interest in the northeast. As we drove across the land to our destination, I looked out upon miles and miles of well-manicured corn rows. No land is wasted; every square inch is used to grow something that is useful for living; very little if any land is left to grow just plain grass. Everything… Read More....
