Since many churches have missions’ conferences yearly, they soon run out of speakers to invite to their conferences. As a result they invite a pastor from another church to be their missions’ conference speaker. He usually preaches on missions related topics during the duration of the conference. At the Filipino missions’ conference, during the parade of national costumes there was a presentation of demographic facts and missions’ statistics. Obviously, these data was carefully researched from various sources and was informative. However, the data regarding missionaries and other spiritual statistics was grossly inaccurate – though this was not the fault of the young As I entered the Filipino church for the missions’ conference, I saw booths on both sides of the church hall representing different countries. These booths are well constructed replicas of buildings from different countries, which contained artefacts from that country and information about that country. Obviously much time and cost had gone into those booths. Several years ago I decided to stop speaking at missions conferences because I believed that they were a waste of everyone’s time.
