Satan is real and he hates missions work!

This entry is Part 1 of 3 in the series Spiritual Battle In Batam

Early this year a team of 4 from the Wilds Christian Camp in North Carolina, USA, came to Philippines to help us to train camp counsellors for our evangelistic camps (more on “e-camps” in later blogs).

The Wilds is the largest Fundamental Christian camping organization in US.

After 2 weeks of training in Philippines, we went to Batam, Indonesia, to look for a suitable camp-site for Indonesian youths. This camp could also serve as a site for Singaporean youths.

Our survey team consisted of the 4 “Wilds” staff, our 2 missionaries to China (V and his wife M), our missionary to Batam (Pt S), our Batam church van driver and I. As the 9 of us were about to leave the ferry terminal at Batam Center, we discovered that the back left tyre of the van was flat!

So we all exited the van, while the driver drove the van to a nearby tyre shop to fix the flat tyre.

Since we had not prayed for safety for our survey trip when we were starting our van journey, God was probably warning us with the flat tyre that we needed to pray! But we were spiritually too complacent to sense it. The success of the previous 2 weeks in the Philippines contributed to our complacency.

When the van came back we all piled in again and set off without praying. We travelled for about an hour to get to a remote beach and then entered a motorized sampan (little boat) for a 15 minute journey to the another inaccessible area which we thought might be a suitable camp-site.

After surveying the site, we left on the same sampan for our return journey. As we were about 500 meters from the shore, the motor of the boat stopped. The boat-man tried and tried to re-start the motor but failed. After about 10 minutes of pulling the starter-cord, he finally sat down in exhaustion. At that time, I said “Let’s pray!” and I said a short prayer. The boat-man got up and  pulled the cord and the motor immediately started!

We entered the van and took off for our hour-long return journey – again without saying a word of prayer for safety!

God had warned us twice but were too dull to respond!

Over the last week I was privileged to take a couple trips to other places of interest in the northeast. As we drove across the land to our destination, I looked out upon miles and miles of well-manicured corn rows. No land is wasted; every square inch is used to grow something that is useful for living; very little if any land is left to grow just plain grass. Everything… Read More....

HE THAT DRINKS OF THE WATER THAT I GIVE HIM SHALL NEVER THIRST AGAIN!!! HEY!!!

That is my freedom! What is this searching in my life? What is this restlessness? What is this thirsting for something more? Jesus is all that I need.

I had a good last-time with Class A on Thursday. We played Jeopardy with a review of things we had studied. They make everything fun and hilarious!!! It’s hard to explain it – just little actions like J & M slapping the desk (part of the game) to answer at the exact same time. I can’t even remember the super-funny thing we were laughing about. It was so cute! So… Read More....
