Last Sunday a group of Indian workers in Singapore planted a church in their home-town of Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. This group of Indian Christians, many of whom were recently saved in Singapore, sent their leader Jacob Bethapudi back to their home-town to start a new church.
Jacob came to Singapore some five years ago to work as a computer professional. He reached out to his fellow countrymen from his home state of Andhra Pradesh who were working in Singapore in the shipyards and in the computer industry. When I first met him, almost four years ago, he was leading a small group of about a dozen men. To help finance the ministry, Jacob took on two full-time jobs – while at the same time pastoring his little flock.

Today, the congregation numbers almost 200 each Sunday. Over 150 have since been baptised, many of whom were formerly Hindus. To reach these men, the church conducts English and computer classes and has outreaches to the workers’ dormitories where these men live.
As many of them had unsaved relatives in India, they decided to start a church in the city where most of them come from, namely, the port city of Visakhapatnam.
The harvest is plentiful!

Pray for more daughter churches to be planted from this little Indian church in Singapore!

Koreans are basically a strong militant race. They do not shun a fight. The Korean Christian population is also clearly divided into conservative Presbyterians and exuberant Charismatics. In… Read More.... | 1 Comment
Going back to the Philippines for winter break is something I truly looked forward to. After a not so normal Christmas and New Year/birthday celebration in China, I was more than ready to hibernate and enjoy the sun in my home country alone. But as usual, plans change every minute. As Hudson Taylor said, “ Man proposes, God disposes.” Being at the center of His will though is still the… Read More.... | 1 Comment
