Christian missions in Asia crawls along in countries that have already long been evangelized, and does not make any dent in countries that desperately need the Gospel. One of the main reasons for the ineffectiveness of Christian missions in Asia is the fact the strategies and plans are made at faraway headquarters – namely, in faraway countries where the funds are raised.
“He who pays the piper calls the tune” is commonly heard in worldly circles. Though even tight-fisted businessmen have come to realize that while it is important to have tight financial controls, it is equally important to leave strategic business decisions to the experts on the field – and these include more and more locals who are well-versed with the local market conditions.
In Christian missions circles, “he who pays the piper still calls the tune” too often. This is often done because it is believed to be “good Christian stewardship of God’s funds.” While it is undoubtedly important to be good stewards of God’s funds, it is more important to realize that the One who should “call the tune” in Christian missions is the Holy Spirit of God. He is the Chief Executive Officer of Christian Missions – and we can trust Him to lead His missionaries to the right mission strategies and to the careful use of funds.
When we trust Him to be the CEO of our missions effort, we are not failing in our duty at missions headquarters because He will undoubtedly do His job of leading and controlling better than any missions director.
Then what is the main duty at missions headquarters? It is primarily to PRAY for our missionaries DAILY – and to trust that the Holy Spirit will lead and guide them far more effectively than we ever can.
Praying to our CEO is far more effective than playing the role of CEO!

And then I thought, maybe God makes beautiful things, not to make us happy, but for His own pleasure and because He just enjoys making and having beautiful creations.
