    Mass evangelism

Not long ago I wrote about the evangelism campaign and described the various preachers’ different styles of presenting the gospel to the crowds – and about Pastor Mike often preaching with a big fellow on his back to illustrate the burden of sin.

Well, he was at it again!

    The burden of sin

    The burden of sin

Who would want to carry such a heavy burden on your shoulders for the rest of your life?? Nobody! The illustration was so graphic and clear! Roll your burdens upon Jesus, Come unto me, all who are weak and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest!

    Look, no hands!

    Look, no hands!

Besides room to room evangelism as well as personal tracting and witnessing, we were often granted permission by the school authorities to preach to big masses of students, and groups such as these may number from a couple of hundred to a couple of thousand! And Pastor Mike was not the sole preacher to these masses – sometimes it was Ivan, sometimes KC, and even little Fily Joy, not even four feet six inches tall, have had to preach to a whole mass of a thousand students a few years ago!

Last Sunday, the team was in Cebu and went to a campus ready to preach to about two thousand students. Arrangements had already been made, but when they got there, the field was flooded from too much rain. It is now typhoon season.

Oh-oh, was that another setback, a discouragement, a hindrance to the great commission?? It turned out, the faculty staff in charge of these 2,000 students decided not to cancel this great opportunity. He had several classrooms to be opened (it was Sunday!) and used.

The students gathered in 17 classrooms, and the team split into 6 groups, and each group preached in 3 classrooms. They counted 1,690 people in the 17 classrooms, and saw 1,250 making decisions for the Lord!

Class to class in small groups was so much more effective! And even though they were tired, God gave grace and strength to speak the truth in His power! What a blessing!

And now… the tally after twenty-seven days of proclaiming the truth on four islands, with eight more days to go… the numbers as at yesterday 8th Aug

Number of Students who heard the Gospel: 38,967
Number of Students who made a decision: 26,977

    Praise The Lord!

I remember the first time I saw the little purple flowers on the mountains in Tibet. They were soooo simply beautiful. And I thought, what a pity that no one but me may ever see these. And then I thought, maybe God makes beautiful things, not to make us happy, but for His own pleasure and because He just enjoys making and having beautiful creations.

This was about 4… Read More....

School has begun! I started teaching on Monday of this week. I am teaching in the English department of my school and am very excited to be working with my students. I have loved all my students from year one to now but because these kids are English majors their English is a little better so we can discuss more in-depth topics and get to know each other a little… Read More....
