Campus Ministries - an open door in Iloilo Philippines

The vision to start up a campus work in Iloilo’s neighboring towns had led the church to Barotac Nuevo and Dumangas. Several high schools and colleges were approached, and after a couple of visits, the campus work in Barotac Nuevo commenced. Iloilo State College of Fisheries in Brgy. Tiwi and another one in the town proper opened their gates on July 2009.

A team from the church together with visiting evangelist, Mark Herbster, went to the two campuses for an Evangelistic campaign. The team was warmly welcomed, and the word of God was clearly presented to the students of those schools. In both campuses, a lot os students made the profession of receiving Jesus Christ.

A week after, another school opened its door to the Gospel. Don Jose Sustiguer Monfort Memorial National College welcomed our team into their campus. Since then, volunteer workers composed of members of our church have been regularly sharing the gospel and doing follow-up lessons to the students.

I am amazed at how God works in the heart of His people. When the door opened for campus work in Barotac Nuevo, we at the APIIS office saw the need for workers and we started praying for them. The Lord didn’t fail to provide the needed workers in time for the start of the work. He led us to the people who had the burden to serve Him and were wondering how God would use them. A simple invitation to join us in the work was readily accepted and a crash course on gospel presentation using the “Four Spiritual Laws” was immediately scheduled. The motto “Success in witnessing is simply taking the opportunity to share the gospel in the power of the Holy Spirit and leaving the results to God.” has become a battle cry for every trip to the campuses. It’s so wonderful to do the work of the Lord. – Belen Volunteer campus worker

“Before when I was just a new believer, I wondered how a person would get saved. Now, after several weeks of going with the campus ministry in Barotac Nuevo, I’ve experienced being a channel of God’s saving work. I’ve seen how God’s word found its way into the eager hearts of the students. Each week has become a showcase of God’s miracle. – Elma, volunteer campus worker

When someone invited me to join the campus ministry in Barotac Nuevo, I was grateful because I’ve been praying to the Lord for a ministry where I could serve Him. I attended the crash course on gospel presentation and I was encouraged by its simplicity. It’s comforting to know that I’m just a proclaimer; the work is of the Holy Spirit. I’m so happy to be a part of God’s great commission. – Bambi, volunteer campus worker

    Dear Family and Friends,

As always, time goes by so quick. The spring semester flew by and now I am in the process of moving to a new city. After the whirlwind of activities over the last few months, I finally have a few minutes to catch my breath before summer camp starts so I thought I’d take a moment to update you on how He is working… Read More....

School has begun! I started teaching on Monday of this week. I am teaching in the English department of my school and am very excited to be working with my students. I have loved all my students from year one to now but because these kids are English majors their English is a little better so we can discuss more in-depth topics and get to know each other a little… Read More....

Over the last week I was privileged to take a couple trips to other places of interest in the northeast. As we drove across the land to our destination, I looked out upon miles and miles of well-manicured corn rows. No land is wasted; every square inch is used to grow something that is useful for living; very little if any land is left to grow just plain grass. Everything… Read More....
