Life pressures gradually got him.
Ministry and full time service turned out to be more demanding than he expected. There was no reward but reprimanding. The hours were long and work never seemed to end. Life was lonely and discouraging.
He soon forgot the reasons for serving the Lord. He then started to consider things of the world : luxurious materials that appear before him and a comfort zone provided by his unsaved parents.
(NB: It is very common in China for parents to arrange everything for their children, including a job that provides “security”, good money and easy load, regardless of the costs.) So, with the pull factor plus the push factor, he gave in, and gave up. He chose to walk the path of his own, knowing that it would not please his Savior.
So, what had gone wrong?
Like many young people, Bro YZ was afraid to step into the real world and had not recognized that the spiritual battle is real. Most of these Christian University graduates are not trained to shine for Jesus after they leave the campus. They have no examples in their Church/Campus Ministry to follow. Thus, when they step into the work place, they do not know how to deal with real life issues.
They do not know how to interact with the unsaved. They do not know how to handle work pressures. But most of all, they do not know how to depend on the Holy Spirit, and soon forget to pray and lean on His Word.
Please pray that God will give the Shepherds wisdom on how to minister to the fresh graduates as part of the Post-university Ministry here. It seems that this phase of life and training has been neglected.
Please also pray that Christians will recognize that spiritual growth is not only driven by ministry, programs or people, but by being grounded in His truth and knowing His grace. May God guard the hearts of His people, the dear souls whom He died on the cross for!

Tim has had a growing burden for the majority people group in his country. In this country, it is against the law for this mainstream people group to… Read More....
A few weeks ago, a co-worker of mine who is married to a Korean Christian worker told me something interesting. She said “Korean missionaries unite around the Gospel but we bring our differences to the mission field and fight over them!”
Koreans are basically a strong militant race. They do not shun a fight. The Korean Christian population is also clearly divided into conservative Presbyterians and exuberant Charismatics. In… Read More.... | 1 Comment
Going back to the Philippines for winter break is something I truly looked forward to. After a not so normal Christmas and New Year/birthday celebration in China, I was more than ready to hibernate and enjoy the sun in my home country alone. But as usual, plans change every minute. As Hudson Taylor said, “ Man proposes, God disposes.” Being at the center of His will though is still the… Read More.... | 1 Comment
