This blog focuses on the principles and practices of Christian missions in Asia as well as providing real-life experiences and testimonies of missionaries serving in Asia.
Though the wind of the Spirit is blowing in Asia and many fruitful and exciting ministries and opportunities are in Asia, there is a dearth of information about what’s happening here. There is a definite informational void about Christian missions in Asia.
Even more needful is a truly Asian perspective by Asian Christians on the principles and practices of missions in an Asian context. Read More…

Over the last week I was privileged to take a couple trips to other places of interest in the northeast. As we drove across the land to our destination, I looked out upon miles and miles of well-manicured corn rows. No land is wasted; every square inch is used to grow something that

“He that drinks of the water that I give him shall never thirst again.”
HE THAT DRINKS OF THE WATER THAT I GIVE HIM SHALL NEVER THIRST AGAIN!!! HEY!!!
That is my freedom! What is this searching in my life? What is this restlessness? What is this thirsting for something more? Jesus is all that I need.
Lately

I had a good last-time with Class A on Thursday. We played Jeopardy with a review of things we had studied. They make everything fun and hilarious!!! It’s hard to explain it – just little actions like J & M slapping the desk (part of the game) to answer at the exact same time. I

After my last class-meeting with my students, I studied Chinese and cleaned a little before my tutor Annie came over.
Confession: I’m very proud person. I mean, I guess that is why I get so frustrated with Chinese classes. Because every correction and every struggle annoys me greatly, and it’s so hard not to show this

As I was walking back from school this morning I started really looking around me (often I look around but don’t comprehend) and I started to think about all the things that I am thankful for but often take for granted.
Thankfulness is something I often forget to practice. Just thought I’d take

Featured Articles The missionaries of the 21st century - Whenever we think of effective missionaries to Asia or other undeveloped countries, we often think of Christian doctors. Many young Christians who want to serve their Lord have studied to be doctors....
Church-planting in RANs - I remember being charged by a member of the “mission board” of a church where I had recruited some English teachers for China. He charged me with “recklessly endangering” the lives of their members by sending them to China to be "slaughtered by the communists!" Because Bible-schools are not preparing their students for hostile countries, it is obviously follows that the mission methods that they teach are also not suitable....
Common hindrances to missions in Asia - The greatest hindrance to missions in Asia is distraction. And the most dangerous distractions are the good ones, eg. spending much money on beautiful church buildings, spending much time on beautiful church activities....
Bookstores as a means of outreach in RANs - While many countries are still anti-Christian, very few countries are anti-learning or anti-education. Therefore, it is still possible in almost any country to open a bookstore. In other words, the purpose of opening a bookstore is to have a platform or channel where many creative things can be done to reach out....
Why bible-schools in Asia are different - Many Bible-schools in Asia are disasters because many people think that Bible-schools all over the world should be similar. So many Bible-schools in Asia are almost whole-sale imports from other countries with the same syllabus (sometimes translated into the local language), the same lecturers that come for short-term stints (teaching with interpreters), similar entry requirements, dormitories, funding, etc....
Indonesia - The Christian missions viewpoint - Indonesia is largely off the missions’ radar screen of most Christians because they believe that Indonesia is a closed Muslim country. Also, many Christians think that Indonesia is a very dangerous country because of spectacular terrorist bombings. Indonesia is the 4th most populated country in the world (240 million). It is the country with the largest Muslim population....
Evangelistic camping – an exciting new way to reach Asia’s youth - Camping attracts youth. Many youth are saved in a camp environment – where they are removed from worldly influences and exposed to much preaching of the Word. Asia has many youth. Our experience has shown that it is easy to attract even youth of different religions to a youth camp run by Christians....
Telecommunications in missions - In this age of telecommunications, money can be sent speedily. Reports and photos of the flood relief efforts can be sent to the donors via the internet. Discussions can take place between field workers and donors easily. In this age of telecommunications, we can turn every crises into an opportunity to show God’s love by our acts of love. Also through these acts of love, we can turn every crises into an opportunity to share the Gospel....
